One of the most demoralizing challenges to admit and face is the issue of food insecurity. The lack of a consistent source of nutrition throughout the winter months is amplified not only because of the physical strain but the mental and emotional crippling of hunger and/or not being able to provide a meal for a family over the holidays.  

About 1,000,000 people in southeast Texas are served by Houston Food Bank, an organization that provides a warm meal and provides the opportunity for long-term stability. Houston Food Bank also provides nutrition education, job training, health management, and assistance in securing state-funded assistance. More importantly, they provide service opportunities to allow individuals to band together during hard times and let those struggling know they’re not alone.
