Lighthouse Christian Ministries is a Christ-centered non-profit ministry dedicated to helping low-income and underserved individuals and families in the upper Galveston Bay Area. Banding Together For The Holidays
One of the most demoralizing challenges to admit and face is the issue of food insecurity. The lack of a consistent source of nutrition throughout the winter months is amplified not only because of the physical strain but the mental and emotional crippling of hunger and/or not being able to provide a meal for a family over the holidays.
About 1,000,000 people in southeast Texas are served by Houston Food Bank, an organization that provides a warm meal and provides the opportunity for long-term stability. Houston Food Bank also provides nutrition education, job training, health management, and assistance in securing state-funded assistance. More importantly, they provide service opportunities to allow individuals to band together during hard times and let those struggling know they’re not alone.
